BACK PORCH THEATER

It all started with a drunken phone call from Miranda in NYC to Mia in Plano, Texas in late March 2020. Leaving the Big Apple- specifically, Astoria, Queens, her home of 20 years, Miranda hopped on a plane to quarantine with her bestie in Texas. An actor, playwright and producer, Miranda found herself getting itchy for creative endeavors. The culprit could have also been the mosquitoes.

Standing on her friend's sun bleached backyard porch, Miranda live-streamed a monologue from Audrey Cefaly's Maytag Virgin- with the playwright's blessing, of course. It was a blast and Back Porch Theater was born. Though her show in NYC was canceled due to the pandemic, Miranda found a way to keep being an actor, and as BP grew, she began branching out and reading a whole slew of playwrights' works.

In the last two years, Miranda has driven across the country and back (twice!) in her trusty van Mathilda, sometimes with an animal in tow, and always with coffee in hand. As BP has expanded, Miranda has brought in other actors for larger cast pieces, and also presents directed readings in real time. People love the behind-the-scenes work!

Currently, her front patio sits in Heath, Texas, where she's in charge of the goats, and makes sure to jump in the pool once a day.

Miranda has since given up alcohol.
